Monster Mash

Here is my set from the Cleveland Institute of Art's annual Halloween banger. It's split into a few pieces to cut out some of the breaks for nerdy art announcements and whatnot. The few hours ranges from funk and old school hip hop to electro and Trick Daddy to Eddie Murphy. All in all a great night, those artists are pretty solid at partying.

Part 2

Part 3

Below is a video of the final dubstep banger of the evening as the bar was closing and the world famous Blue Man Group relentlessly gettin their boogie on.

Summa Summa Summa Time

Here it is, the groove slightly transformed. Just a bit of a break from the norm.
Here's a little mix that I did while messing around one night. It happened to come out pretty dope so I figured I would use my old friend the internet to share it with the world. Drake, David Bowie, Deadmau5... and those are only a few of the artists that start with the letter D. Anyways, grab a tofu dog, find a thong bikini (to wear or admire) and enjoy.

Because the Greatest Emcee of All Time Died on March 9th

Despite the fact that the Midwest has slowly worked its way into my blood... I still have to let the New Yorker in me shine through and pay tribute to Mr. Christopher Wallace on the anniversary of his murder (insane that its been 13 years, and even crazier that the stupid ass poh-leece haven't done anything about it in that much time).
This video remix is one of more to come by one of my favorite DJs, J. Period

J.Period & Ralph McDaniels f. The Notorious B.I.G. - "Flava in Ya Ear (March 9 Video Remix)" from Truelements Music on Vimeo.

Here are a couple of my favorite tracks today and one of my own thrown in there shamelessly...

A really dope remix by the homie Terry Urban off of his dope B.I.G. tribute mixtape with Mick Boogie. The whole project is available for free.99 HERE

Next is a little mix I did in one take with Biggie's "Nasty Boy" over a Bee Gees track. Not my finest work, but pretty cool nonetheless.

Finally, one of my favorite tracks of all time...

... keep on just keep on pressin' on.

On an unrelated note, this is just too dope not to post.

Dub Smash

For those of you who have gotten sick of all this J Dilla blah blah, and underground hip hop who-ha and wanted to deep, dark, bassy dubstep music to smash shit to... youre in luck! Bring yo ass to the Grog Shop on Coventry tonight. Im rockin with some of Cleveland's finest. It will be sort of like this but with less flute...

And if you want to do yourself a favor and not be a sucka, watch the rest of the videos from that BBC session. Incredible. See you at the Grog.

And here is a little Dilla mix that I did hungover on a Sunday morning last week. Not really a "best of", just some of my favorite tracks.

Jay-Detroit-I-to-the-L-L-A

So as I mentioned before... the ears of Cleveland, Ohio will soon be made love to by the sweet sounds of J Dilla. Here's the run down...

On Saturday February 13, Get Some Productions proudly presents an evening dedicated to the life and music of James “J Dilla” Yancey. Dilla tragically passed away in February of 2006 from complications of the blood disease Lupus. Come celebrate the legacy and amazing catalogue of music of an artist who defined the sound of a movement of hip hop and soul music. Although a hero to many, Dilla’s work often goes loved and appreciated but unrecognized. Cleveland’s best DJs will be spinning Dilla solo tracks, and singles, remixes and rarities with artists like: A Tribe Called Quest, Common, Erykah Badu, The Roots, Busta Rhymes, Mos Def, Madlib, Ghostface, Slum Village, and many more.

Raffle drawings all night with prizes from: Heart & Sole Sneakers, Next Coventry, Legndary Boutique and Stones Throw Records.

Live art and silk screening for sale with t-shirts courtesy of American Apparel.

All proceeds from the event will go directly to Dilla’s mother, Maureen “Ma Dukes” Yancey, who is currently struggling to pay her own hospital bills, as she is also sick with Lupus. Ma Dukes is also in the process of raising funds to create a Lupus support foundation in her son’s honor.

Thank You Jay Dee

I'm thrilled to say that after a lot of (still ongoing) hard work and preparation February 13th will officially be a night to remember in Cleveland, Ohio. Myself, along with four of the city's finest DJs, Local Stores and Artists will be paying tribute to one of the greatest musicians of all time; James "J-Dilla" Yancey. Check back here for more info over the coming weeks on raffle giveaways, art and designs for the live silk screening, and of course a heavy dose of that Dilla goodness.

Here is one of Dilla's most recent tracks that appeared after his death on Mos Def's last album The Ecstatic. This is a live version with The Roots from Late Night with Jimmy Fallon...

Mos Def ft. Talib Kweli- History (prod. J Dilla)-

Speaking of Mos, here is an incredible live show from him and K'Naan who released one of the best albums of 2009 and absolutely kills it on this. If you're not hip to Austin City Limits, check it out on PBS or at the website. It's always good.
